After 5 years of involvement in the LWDP, and the last 12 months as Chair of the Board, Paul Simic, Chief Executive at Lancashire Care Association, has resigned. Everyone involved in the Partnership would like to thank Paul for all his hard work and contributions over the past five years. Amanda Forshaw, Assistand Director at Catholic Caring Services - Childrens Services, will be the interim Chair and the Partnership will be advertising for an Independent Chair shortly.
Last year (2007/08) we enabled people to obtain an extension to the time they were permitted to submit evidence to obtain payment this was because it was felt that we had not given enough notice of the cut off date.This year 2008/09 the final date for submitting evidence to obtain payment will be 31st March 2009 there will be no extension period, any claims not submitted by this time will need to be reapplied for in 2009/10
LWDP Jobs SectionAttention all LWDP Members and LWDP approved training providers: It has been agreed that the job adverts page will continue to be FREE for all care and LWDP approved training providers in Lancashire.
The LWDP are pleased to announce that following requests they are now able to fund Management NVQ’s. The funding for this will be made available in the normal manner using LancashirePlan . The usual rule of funding for one NVQ per person per year will apply and therefore you can only apply for a Management NVQ if you are not undertaking a Care NVQ.
It has been agreed that in 2008/09 that maximum rate of funding for training will normally be: Short courses (full day) | £50 | NVQ’s and other unit based courses | £100 per unit (£75 per unit for college provision where college is in receipt of LSC funding) | Induction (CIS) | £150 | LDQ Learning Disability Qualification | £200 | Up to 3 short courses at up to £50 each | £150 | A1 - Assessor | £500* |
*this is a limited pot of money and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If the course is being provided by your training provider at less than the above cost you will only receive the cost advertised. PLEASE REMEMBER – funding is public money and should be used responsibly.

The questions that we were asked: 1. What information would help your organisation plan for the next 12 months 2. What information would help you perform a training needs/gap analysis? 3. CareSeeker (Lancashire) The LWDP have launched a new service for its members – search for care homes in Lancashire with CareSeeker (Lancashire). CareSeeker is an internet based search facility that allows potential service users, families and advocates to search through listings of the care providers in Lancashire to find a service that fits their needs. Your care provider listing on CareSeeker can be found by logging into the members area using your LWDP User ID and Password and selecting the CareSeeker Lancashire Update menu item.
LancashirePlan Training / Funding / Workforce Management Software Through LancashirePlan, organisations can book, track and record training and staff development and produce reports for CSCI, LCC, NMDS-SC etc, a 187 courses are currently being advertised resulting in 14,771 places being booked on-line since April 2006.
