  65. Move On E-bulletin

    Dear LWDP Members,

    Happy New Year!

Welcome to the January edition of the e-bulletin from Move On to World Class Skills. The bulletin includes new developments and resources to support you and your colleagues with your Skills for Life work and with wider skills development activity.

    In this issue:

    ·          Free Darts maths takeaway

    ·          New numeracy section on the Move On web site

    ·          Test the . . . numeracy campaigns and the Skills Pledge

    What’s new?

The most recent phase of the national Get On campaign is once more linking up with the British Darts Organisation to promote numeracy through darts. The partnership was launched at the World Professional Darts Championship this month with Johnny Ball. Move On has produced a free Darts-themed maths takeaway to support the campaign, which is available to download from the Move On web site. People accessing the Get On campaign web site continue to be offered the ‘Test your skills’ facility on the Move On web site.

    Have you seen?

The new numeracy resources button on the home page of the Move On web site? We’ve made it much easier for you to access all the materials we’ve developed that relate to numeracy. Simply click on the button and choose from engagement or delivery. The links take you right through to specific documents that you can download or print off. As more numeracy-related resources are developed we’ll simply add them to the links so make sure you click on the button on a regular basis! Simply login or register at www.move-on.org.uk and click on the new numeracy resources button on the home page.

    Did you know?

The successful Test the . . . approach continues to be used to support the increased uptake of numeracy opportunities. Recent campaigns have included Test the Prisons, Test the LSC and Test the Ambulance Service, with more campaigns planned in the NHS. Increasingly Test the . . . campaigns are being used by employers and their partners to support implementation of the Skills Pledge. Move On to World Class Skills has developed a Skills Pledge implementation plan that is currently being trialled with an employer. This will be shared via the Move On web site following the trialling. If you would like to develop a Test the . . . campaign, go to www.move-on.org.uk/testthe.asp for free Test the Town and Test the Company manuals to help you plan and implement your own campaign.
