LWDP: an ‘employer-led’ partnership

Note: At the Board meeting on the 12th February (minutes will be available on the website, in due course) an important issue arose which the Board wishes to highlight.

The currently agreed policy of LWDP (published in its Business Plan) is that payment for funding is to be made directly to Care providers from 1st April 2008. This decision was re-visited  at the Board in response to communications received and a paper tabled for discussion asking for a review of this principle.

After very detailed and lengthy discussion, the Board agreed, with one dissenting voice , that the original decision - that as from April 1st 2008 all payments will be made directly to the care providers - will remain the Board’s policy, as an ‘employer-led’ body. 

It was further agreed that at the application stage on LancashirePlan, and again at the payment stage, care providers will be formally reminded that this money is given to them for the sole purpose of paying their chosen training provider and will be subject to audit.

This decision stands for 12 months and will be reviewed in February 2009.
